The Counselor Education program is thrilled to announce our 2025 Milman Scholars. We had 22 awardees this year. This year with 22 awardees we decided to try something different. Rather than have each student present to a class we decided to host an online Arts in Counseling web conference through our Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) honors society, and for three hours we had each recipient share their unique arts in counseling project for both our Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling candidates.

The Counselor Education faculty were amazed by the depth of talent in our candidates and what they shared across media from visual and performing arts (dance, synthesized sound, music, painting, drawing, poetry, and more). We agreed to record the entire event to share with our colleagues. We also agreed to put highlights from the video as well as resources from it up on our Counselor Education website permanently under a forthcoming Creative Arts Counseling tab (in progress currently), and we plan to make this an annual event and add to the resources yearly. We’ve also been inspired to create a new Creative Arts in Counseling course (also forthcoming).

Our School Counseling program is accredited through CACREP, the Council on the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. We have applied for our Clinical Mental Health Counseling program to also be accredited by CACREP.
